NBA's Chinese New Year ad
The NBA's special commercial to celebrate the Chinese New Year was one of the many fun projects we have had the privilege to work on. The design was an origami-like recreation of some NBA players. While the art of paper folding is mostly known by its Japanese term "Origami", its origin dates back to medieval China where it is referred to as "Zhezhi".
To give the director an idea of the edit and rhythm of the spot, we created a Previz first. Having received all of the feedback, we moved on to creating paper characters and Look Development. Once our team had successfully delivered the look of the show, they assisted with the fireworks and cloth tear at the end!
